Skylar has been involved with the climate movement for many years, both as an activist and within her career. She currently works at Ostrom Climate Solutions on the International Land Use team. She works on the design and implementation of multi-stakeholder emissions reductions land use projects, such as avoided deforestation, ecosystem restoration, and climate smart agriculture. Skylar is responsible for supporting project management, which includes project design documentation, risk assessment, data analysis, monitoring, and reporting. Prior to joining Ostrom Climate, Skylar worked at University of British Columbia as a research technician, where she collaborated with interdisciplinary teams to conduct research in the realms of land and water management. As part of that role, she also instructed a graduate-level course in Land and Water Resource Evaluation. Outside of her day job, Skylar has been involved with the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation's youth climate branch as a member and co-coordinator for delegations to the UNFCCC COP25 and COP26 conferences. At the COPs, she met with Canadian Ministers and Members of Parliament to lobby for more ambitious climate policy including an enhanced NDC and phase out of fossil fuel subsidies. She has also completed a social impact finance research fellowship with the HSBC Social Innovation Academy. Skylar has been a contributing author to peer-reviewed journal articles, policy briefs, and newspaper articles related to her research and policy advocacy work. She holds a B.Sc. in Global Resource Systems and a Master of Land and Water Systems from University of British Columbia

We now welcome Skylar Kylstra from Canada (North America). Joins the Youth Fund Committee as Active Committee Member. They will assist with vetting projects and ventures under the microgrants. She holds a B.Sc. in Global Resource Systems and a Master of Land and Water Systems from University of British Columbia.
